Clemente Music Rocks!

ClementeMusicRocks is located at Roberto Clemente Middle School in Germantown, Maryland. CMR provides innovative and exciting contemporary experiences so that every child on every instrument has a chance to succeed! In addition to the traditional Chorus, Band, Guitar, and Orchestra classes, CMR provides a whole school extra-curricular program called "Old School" and a Rock Band class as part of the school curriculum.

Old School is an original rock and roll oldies multi-media show that involves over 400 middle school, alumni high school and elementary school students, as well as over 75 parents and guardians. Old School brings the entire community together with its rich diversity to celebrate the success of its students. Each year the show is performed before sold-out audiences at Seneca Valley High School in Germantown, MD. Old School 5 will be May 20 and 21, 2011.

As a result of the highly successful Old School program, contemporary music is incorporated into the rigorous music curriculum through a Rock Band class. Rock Band reaches students who may never pick up a clarinet or a violin by providing instruction on contemporary instruments. Students work cooperatively in bands and study the history of popular music and its influence on 20th century culture and events.

In a world where access to contemporary instruments is no longer equitable and limited to only those who can afford it, Rock Band provides electric guitars and drums free of charge, so that every child on every instrument has a chance to succeed!
