In 2007 Maestro Piotr Gajewski, Conductor of the Strathmore Philharmonic, spent three months mentoring the Clemente Orchestras on a weekly basis. His main objective was to equip the Orchestra for their competition at the Montgomery County Public School Middle School Band Festival.
The results of his investment was a "superior" rating (the highest possible) at Festival and a tremendous love and enthusiasm for playing in the students!
Thank you Maestro for all your efforts!
The RCMS Music Handbooks are back and have gone green! Download the Instrumental and Choral Music Handbooks for the 2009-2010 school year, fill out your forms, and turn in your first homework assignment! It's due, Thursday, Aug. 26 for instrumental students and Friday, September 4th for choral students.
Roberto Clemente MS has a limited number of school instruments for student use. Students arranging instrumental use with the instructor in advance should use this form:
Part of the instrumental student grade is having all materials for daily full participation. It is essential that students are prepared for class. At times, instruments break and must be repaired or other issues occur. This “doctor’s note” provides the instructor with much needed information directly from the parent/guardian and maintains student accountability for full participation.
Students must have an excused note in order to receive full credit in class.
Center Band & Orchestra is BACK! Rehearsals begin Wednesday, September 23 at 2:50 PM. If you've been involved in the music department but can't play in band or orchestra class this year, then come join the after-school group!! It's lots of fun, you get to hang out with old friends from the music department (and reminisce of Ms. Levy's bad jokes: "homies!"), and play some fun music and perform on the Winter Concert.
This means you still have to practice, but now you don't get a grade! Woo Hoo!
This coming 09-10 school year is going to be filled with lots of exciting musical learning experiences! Be sure to check the music website regularly for all announcements, forms, activities, homework, and updates! Follow the blog and stay up-to-date!
